95% of the wood we use has the FSC logo on it. FSC stands for (Forest Stewardship Council) it is a international non-profit organisation dedicated to responsible forestry. FSC Certifies forests all over the world to ensues they meet the highest environmental and social standards.
Here at G Stewart Joinery we know the demand for beautiful wood in first world countries has a detrimental effect on rainforests around the world. We have seen first hand the damage it has caused in South East Asia.
In 2009 our proprietor Gavin Stewart visited the Sepilock Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo. He was touched by the great work they do to return orphaned orangutans to the wild after their homes have been destroyed by deforestation.
We have selected the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre as our charity of choice. Check out the great work they are doing.
